A suspected gambling addict fatally injured a New York tarot card reader last week because his luck ran out. The suspect blamed her for her gambling losses and believed her to be a witch who cast a spell on him, media reported.

Giuseppe Canzani, 41, of Queens, NY, who worked for New York City, repeatedly confessed to shooting Anna Torres, 51, while she was at her home in Queens last Wednesday, according to the New York Post and the Daily mail.

After hearing a knock on his door, Torres opened his front door to see Canzani standing there. He then shot her with a silver .45 caliber gun, the Daily mail said. She was shot twice. A bullet hit her in the head, according to the report.

She was pronounced dead at the scene of the crime.

Canzani left the house after the shooting. He was seen in surveillance video walking back to his car. He was carrying a gun, Job said. About an hour later, he surrendered to NYPD officers at the 106th Precinct.

Canzani was to be charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon, police announced last week. At his arraignment, a judge ordered Canzani held without bond. His case continued until May 26.

Sources blame the game

Some sources believe the game was the cause of the shooting.

The guy had been dating her for years,” an anonymous source revealed to Daily mail late last week. “He’s had some bad luck the past few weeks, including with gambling. He went to her house and shot her.

But Canzani’s statements went beyond his bad luck and the shooting, Derhemi said..

“Anna told me the black head of the NYPD wanted to kill my wife. Anna is a witch,” Canzani further told an NYPD detective at the precinct, Derhemi revealed in court.

Mental health questioned

Kerry Katsorhis, an attorney who represents Canzani, said Canzani needed a mental health check. The judge approved the attorney’s request for review.

He suffers from anxiety as well as depression. He doesn’t have his medication. Katsorhis told the judge when Canzani appeared in court on Thursday evening, the Job said.

Katsorhis is a former New York State Police Officer and Queens Assistant District Attorney. He handles many criminal cases.

But prosecutors are confident in the case against Canzani.

“It contains CCTV evidence, testimony and the defendant’s own statements,” New York Assistant District Attorney Xhulia Derhemi told the judge. Daily mail reported. Canzani spoke freely to the police.

“I want to surrender. I’m not here to hurt you. I am here because of the woman I shot,” Canzani told an NYPD officer after entering the precinct, Derhemi said during the arraignment, on Daily mail said.
